Our History
Founded in 2003, the India Brazil Chamber of Commerce (IBCC) is an independent, privately held, non-profit organization. The founding board was composed, among other members, by the Consul General A. H of India in Minas Gerais and the current Consul General A. H of India in Rio de Janeiro. Our first president was Mr. Elson de Barros Gomes, who set up the organization with the goal of helping Brazilian companies, executives and entrepreneurs to seek new trade frontiers and new opportunities in India. In 2004, the Chamber was invited to organize and compose the Brazilian business delegation that traveled to India that year, accompanying the official delegation of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil. From this event on, IBCC became a reference in the promotion of this bilateral relationship.
In June 2007, the India Brazil Chamber of Commerce opened its first brench in India and also started assisting Indian companies, executives and entrepreneurs interested in the Brazilian market. IBCC stood out as one of the main organizations responsible for the strong growth of trade between the two countries from 2004 to 2014 (the first 10 years of our activity), in which the trade balance between the two countries increased from 400 million dollars to almost 11 billion dollars.
During these 15 years of activity, it has organized numerous official and business missions, road shows, seminars, congresses, cultural events and it was responsible for the main success stories of this bilateral relationship, assisting and advising Indian and Brazilian companies in the realization of important businesses.
